description
Authentic pre-owned MEISSEN item, inspected on site by our experts. Very good pre-owned condition; minor age- and use-related signs may be present.

The Onion Pattern is one of the most tradition-rich designs from MEISSEN. It was created in 1739 and draws on the blue-and-white porcelain of East Asia, which was highly prized in Europe in the 18th century. The name is deliberately misleading: no onions appear in the design. Instead, the motifs include pomegranate, peach, bamboo stalks, and delicate blossoms. These motifs have accompanied the manufactory for nearly three centuries and are still painted with the same care today.

The "Neuer Ausschnitt" vase has a slender, upward-reaching form that ends in a gently flared, curved rim. A white edge frames this finish and allows the cobalt blue of the decoration to show its full depth. The openwork foot lifts the piece off the surface and gives it a refined lightness. Each motif is hand-painted under the glaze, so the line work and tonal variations reveal the hand of the individual painter and make every piece unique.

At a height of 14 cm (approx. 5.5 in), the vase is well suited to a sideboard as a focal point, or as an accent on a shelf or windowsill. It combines the character of a historic design with everyday practicality: it works equally well with fresh flowers or as a decorative object on its own.
