description
With this porcelain figure, MEISSEN turns to a subject from the world of thoroughbred racing: the mare Idiomatic at the moment of competition. The horse stretches into a full, far-reaching gallop, her tail streaming and her head extended slightly forward. The result is a captured moment of motion that draws the viewer straight into the race.

The figure depicts the mare in a chestnut coat, with finely modeled musculature across the shoulder, neck, and hindquarters. Her legs are extended, and her hooves are set at varying heights. This interplay lends the figure tension and movement while preserving a convincing sense of anatomy. The bridle, rendered in white porcelain with gold-toned fittings, emphasizes presence and attention to detail.

The jockey is bent low over the horse's neck in the characteristic racing crouch. His turquoise silks with pink accents, white breeches, and pink helmet are executed in fine painted detail. The number 1 appears on the saddlecloth and on the upper arm, referencing the race. Gold on the stirrups and facial details adds delicate highlights across the figure.

The figure stands on a white, gently curved base that evokes the racetrack. The name "Idiomatic" appears in gold script on the front of the base. A white support connects the horse's body to the base and secures the unsupported gallop.

Idiomatic is among the most successful distance mares of her generation. She was named the top older female in the United States in 2023 and 2024 and won, among other races, the Breeders' Cup Distaff. This figure preserves that achievement in porcelain, joining athletic excellence with the craft tradition of the MEISSEN manufactory, which has stood for porcelain of the highest quality since 1710.
