GLASHÜTTE X MEISSEN: Senator „Cherry Blossom“
-
Two manufactories. One shared passion. Following the successful collaboration between MEISSEN and Glashütte Original in 2025, the next interpretation of their shared craftsmanship expertise arrives: the Senator Meissen "Cherry Blossom."
At its heart is a remarkable form of cherry blossom: the Japanese Jugatsu-zakura, a winter cherry whose delicate blossoms begin to open as early as October. While nature around it dresses in the colors of autumn, its white and pink blossoms create a surprising, almost poetic contrast. Its late bloom makes it an extraordinary natural spectacle and, at the same time, a symbol of transient beauty.
MEISSEN and Glashütte Original transform a fleeting moment into an enduring masterpiece: the new Senator Meissen "Cherry Blossom." On delicate Meissen porcelain, the tender cherry blossom unfolds, immortalized by master hands in all its filigree aesthetic, and meets the precision of fine mechanical watchmaking.

FLOWERS BY MASTER HANDThe creation of the dial follows the same philosophy that has shaped MEISSEN porcelain painting for centuries: utmost precision, exceptional patience, and a deep understanding of the material.
First, the wafer-thin porcelain is fired at around 1,400 °C. Only then does the actual painting begin. The delicate blossoms and their soft shades of color, as well as the Glashütte Original logo, are applied by hand by experienced porcelain painters using the finest brushes.
Over many hours, a dial emerges that is far more than a decorative element: it is a piece of Meissen craftsmanship in miniature. The deliberately reduced design of the Senator Meissen gives this art the space it deserves. The flat rose gold case, 40 millimeters in diameter, frames the hand-painted porcelain, while the hour and minute hands of solid gold complement the floral composition with understated elegance. -
UNSURPASSED MECHANICSBehind the reduced two-hand design of the Senator Meissen "Cherry Blossom" is a mechanical masterpiece that is every bit a match for the art on the dial. The manufacture caliber 36-16 combines the highest precision and exceptional robustness with an impressive power reserve of 100 hours and the finest handcrafted finishing. The automatic movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour and features an antimagnetic, temperature-resistant silicon balance spring. When the crown is pulled out, the balance stop immediately halts the balance wheel, allowing for precise setting of the time.
A sapphire crystal caseback reveals the artfully finished mechanics: the precise stripe finish of the Glashütte three-quarter plate, the hand-engraved balance cock, and the fine sunburst finish of the manual-winding chain. Above them turns the skeletonized rotor, with its mirror-image G symbol and oscillating weight of solid gold.
